Echoes from China Traditional Arts Society is a Toronto-based non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and presentation of traditional Chinese performing arts, with a current focus on Kunqu theatre. Through training programs, stage productions, and cultural initiatives, we seek to nurture both artists and audiences, encouraging a deeper appreciation for classical aesthetics while fostering authentic and inspiring dialogue across cultures.
回响传统文化研习社（Echoes from China Traditional Arts Society）是一家扎根于多伦多的非营利机构，致力于中国传统表演艺术的传承与推广，尤其以昆曲为当下之重心。通过教学、演出及多元文化活动，我们希望在培养表演人才的同时，也培养能够欣赏、理解传统艺术的观众知音，激发公众对古典美学更深层的兴趣，并以此为基础，促成不同文化间的交流与对话。
Our Journey
Echoes from China was founded in the summer of 2022 by a group of students and young professionals in Toronto. The organization was officially incorporated as a non-profit with the Canadian federal government in December of the same year. Our founding members shared backgrounds in traditional Chinese arts such as theatre, music, dance, and clothing culture. In our early years, we explored a wide range of traditional Chinese art forms through multidisciplinary showcases and cultural gatherings, and actively participated in performances and community events across the GTA.
回响诞生于2022年盛夏，同年12月在加拿大联邦政府正式注册为非营利组织。回响由一群在多伦多求学与工作的青年发起，成员多具有戏曲、民乐、舞蹈或传统服饰等领域的专业或半专业背景，因对传统文化的共同热爱聚在一起。之后的两年中，我们举办综合性的传统艺术展演与文化雅集，积极参与大多伦多地区的各类演出和社区活动，在实践中不断探索中国古典艺术在当代的呈现方式。
As our work evolved, our artistic focus gradually became more defined. Since 2025, our work has centered on the study, training, and performance of Kunqu, one of the oldest and most refined living forms of classical Chinese theatre. At the same time, artists from other traditional disciplines remain active within our community, and the diversity they bring continues to shape our growth.
随着工作的深入，我们的艺术重心逐渐聚焦。自2025年起，我们将昆曲的研习、教学与演出确立为现阶段的核心项目。同时，来自其他传统艺术领域的创作者与合作伙伴仍活跃在我们的社群中，他们带来的多元的艺术资源也持续滋养着我们的成长。
Building a Community
We envision Echoes from China as a growing cultural community, a space where members come together to learn, collaborate, and deepen their connection with Chinese heritage. We aim to create a shared environment where artists, learners, and audiences grow side by side, united by the art they experience together.
我们将回响视为一个不断生长的文化社群，一个让不同背景的人相聚、共学、共创，并与中华文化建立更深联结的空间。我们希望营造一个共同成长的环境，在这里演员、学员与观众因艺术而相遇，也因艺术收获连接、彼此支持。
