活動概述 | Overview
From the misty rivers of Jiangnan to the shores of Lake Ontario, Kunqu has travelled across oceans and centuries to bloom at last in Toronto.
On September 28, 2025, Echoes From China presented the inaugural showcase of its Kunqu Studio Program at Winchester Street Theatre in downtown Toronto. It was a milestone moment — two years after the organization's last full-scale production, Echoes returned to the stage. This time, rather than a multi-genre arts night, the evening was the program's first public presentation since Echoes refocused its mission on Kunqu training and performance in 2025: a debut report card from students and instructors alike.
从烟雨江南到安大略湖畔，昆曲穿越山海，穿越时空，终于在多伦多初绽。
2025年9月28日，回响传统文化研习社在市中心 Winchester Street Theatre 呈现了昆曲研习计划的首场汇报演出。这是一个特别的时刻——时隔两年，回响终于再次拥有了自己的舞台。这一次，不是综合艺术夜的多元呈现，而是回响自 2025 年起全面聚焦昆曲教学以来，师生共同交出的第一份答卷。

A demonstration of foundational Kunqu performance techniques for the dan (female) role type, revealing the craft behind the art
The showcase was the Kunqu Studio Program's first public presentation of its teaching outcomes, and Echoes' first dedicated Kunqu production since refocusing its mission in 2025. The event was run on a non-profit basis, with all revenue directed toward covering production costs.
As a teaching showcase, it answered a question larger than "what have the students learned" — it asked whether Kunqu, a living art form designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, can take root, grow, and reach the stage in Toronto. From three Du Liniangs sharing one evening to a full rendition of Longing for the Secular World, from technique demonstrations to guided interpretation throughout — the answer this evening gave was: yes, it can.
作为一场教学汇报，它回答的不仅是「学员学到了什么」 ，更是「昆曲这门被联合国列为人类非物质文化遗产的古老艺术，能否在多伦多生根、成长、登台」。三位杜丽娘同台、思凡的完整呈现、基本功展示与全场导赏——当晚舞台上发生的一切，就是最好的回答。
